  • Why is CVRP Fictionalized?

When we created Chiliad Valley RP, we knew we wanted a setting that felt familiar, but also keep it distinctly unique, make sure it felt like it was ours. The name "Chiliad Valley" pays tribute to the lore of Grand Theft Auto, specifically Mount Chiliad and the surrounding region. Since we’re a British Columbia-based server, and BC doesn’t use counties like some provinces or states do, we reimagined the whole area as "Chiliad Valley" instead.

We kept GTA's iconic place names like Sandy Shores and Paleto Bay, not just for recognition, but because there’s no easy real-world substitute. Calling Sandy Shores a town like "Kamloops" just wouldn’t feel right. We wanted to preserve the rural, small-town charm of these areas, without the complications of a big city. That’s also why we’ve focused on the RCMP, which serves most rural BC communities; it fits the vibe perfectly.

By fictionalizing our world, we’ve unlocked creative freedom. We can built quirks into our departments and the rest of the community without being boxed in by real-world limits.

    CVRP's Lore Explained

Chiliad Valley is set in a fictional part of BC, somewhere in the southwest of the province. The city, Los Santos, is referenced as if it exists... but you may find it pretty difficult to travel there without running into some conveniently permanent roadwork (oops!).

Sandy Shores houses our main RCMP Detachment for the Chiliad Valley Regional RCMP, while Grapeseed is home to a small community policing office. In Paleto Bay, you’ll find the Southwest District RCMP Office, a fictionalized provincial headquarters for specialized units like BC Highway Patrol, the Emergency Response Team, and our helicopter, Air 5.

BC Emergency Health Services (ambulance) operates out of Sandy Shores and Paleto Bay, and our Regional Fire Rescue team has multiple stations sprinkled across the valley.

In the end, CVRP blends the best of GTA's recognizable map with a proudly Canadian twist, giving you a setting that feels immersive, believable, and built for high-quality roleplay.
